New Freedoms in Funeral Customs
The ways we die and grieve have both been strongly conditioned by tradition and taboo. Yet traditional funeral customs - standardized and supervised by church and state - no longer suit our modern lives. In this book, Germany's best known undertaker reveals the contradictions in our ideas about death and bereavement. Decades of professional experience have brought him to the realization that we are capable of reaching decisions that lead to independent and dignified forms of departure. In addition, dealing with end-of-life questions can teach us a great deal about life itself.
