What Does Art Want?

What does art have to do with me, and what does it want? Authors Kittl and Saehrendt set themselves the goal of teaching young people how to appreciate art by relating it to their own world. Instead of plodding through the periods, styles, and schools of art, they enable young people to experience intense encounters with artists and their works. They describe the relationships between art, individuality, and freedom of thought, and show how they arose historically. Readers learn how the role of the artist has changed over time and discover the social significance of art then and now. This book allows anyone to experience and understand art.
The authors Kittl and Saehrendt co-authored the best-selling "I Can Do That, Too! User Manual for Modern Art" (2007) and "That Tells Me Something. Phrasebook: German-Art / Art-German" (2008).
